Individual
Donations Are Key
The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet can provide food to those
in need because of the generosity of our community. A cornerstone of our support is the “Sponsor a Family” program. Through this program, an individual can “support” a needy family by contributing $12 to $23 a
month to buy the food that goes into our grocery bags.
The total value of the
bags of food given average about $23 of which $12 is provide by the Sponsor-A-Family
program.
(See Certificate below)
A great percentage of
money donated is spent on food—overhead is kept low because all workers are
volunteers.

What can I do to help?
Sponsor-A-Family
Your contribution really does
make a difference to a local family.
Your contribution will be
applied to the Food Closet operations and mainly be used to supplement donated
packaged food items. Perishable food such as milk, fresh vegetables, meat and eggs
are purchased to make up a nutritionally balanced package that is distributed
to families who seek the assistance of the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet. People who come in
for help include very low income workers, seniors, handicapped, unemployed, homeless
and people in transition. Because of the unsettled economy, there are an ever
increasing number of people requesting help. The total cost of the food given
is $23 per month for a family of three. One-half of the food given is donated,
so out of pocket cost is $12 per month for a family of three.
Send a contribution of
$23 per month ($276 for year) or
$12 per month ($144 per year)
Be sure to write “Sponsor-A-Family”
on all checks.
Please send this half along with your first check so
we can enroll
you in the Sponsor-A-Family program to help local
families. This certificate
will help us keep accurate records (make a copy for
your files if you desire).
